On 3 August 2022, on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a ceremony was held in the Avaza National Tourist Zone honoring athletes who won prizes in recent major international competitions – the Silk Road 2022 rally (Russia) and the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship (Uzbekistan).
The event was attended by members of the government, representatives of the parliament, ministries and departments, public organizations, and the media.
“With your victories and exemplary achievements in the field of sports, you should demonstrate the effectiveness of the excellent conditions created at the state level for young athletes,” President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed in his address.
The following athletes were awarded:
- Medine Amanova, a student of the 10th grade of Ashgabat Secondary School No. 104, won three gold medals and two bronze medals at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championships
- Saparly Mukhyev, a student of the 11th grade of Ashgabat Secondary School No. 20, who won three gold medals at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship
- The team of the agency “Turkmenawtoulaglary” consisting of brothers Merdan Toylyev and navigator Shohrat Toylyev, who raced at the International Rally raid “Silk Road-2022” and won first place, gold medal in T2 Category.
The rally-marathon route run along the most difficult 4463 km-long route Astrakhan–Moscow. Most of the 10-day race route was off-road terrain – steppe areas, sandstones and dunes, mountainous and wooded sections. 32 crews from Russian Federation, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Latvia, China, Mongolia took part in the rally.
The Turkmen car racers were presented with cars, gifts, vouchers for rest in the Awaza, as well as special equipment from the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Helping Children in Need of Guardianship.
On behalf of the head of state, the athletes of the national team of Turkmenistan in motor sports were awarded a car “Nissan Pathfinder”. ///nCa, 4 August 2022
