On Wednesday, 19 August, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited the Archman Sanatorium in Baherden district, Ahal province, where he reviewed the final stage of construction of a new complex and the modernization of existing facilities. The visit was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH).
Minister of Health and Medical Industry M. Gayypov briefed the President on progress at the new complex and the facilities undergoing modernization, including their layout, equipment and the arrangement of auxiliary buildings.
The projects presented included engineering plans for a new 400-bed sanatorium building and the modernization of Buildings A and B. Also presented were designs for a dining hall, a phytobar and a teahouse, a 300-seat conference hall, a mineral-water drinking pavilion, children’s playrooms, a gym, a balneotherapy building and a four-level car park.
The new building will house diagnostic rooms, facilities for spa treatments, mineral-water therapy rooms, as well as hydrotherapy, halotherapy and aromatherapy facilities, gyms and a children’s playroom.
According to the TDH report, the complex’s departments will be equipped with medical devices and equipment from leading international manufacturers, with some of the technology having no equivalent in the region.
After reviewing the projects in detail, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov made a number of comments and introduced the necessary adjustments.
In particular, he instructed those responsible to complete construction within the established timeframe and commission the facility by Health and Medical Industry Workers’ Day (10 October).
The President also ordered measures to be taken to make more effective use of the health and recreational potential of the Archman resort, scientifically assess the reserves of the therapeutic spring and improve the professional qualifications of senior medical staff.
During a visit to the mineral-water pavilion, the head of state stressed the importance of organizing regular consultations. Doctors will be able to explain the benefits and temperature of the spring water, as well as the proper way to consume it, helping visitors comply with established guidelines for mineral-water intake.
Archman is one of Turkmenistan’s best-known balneological resorts, with a history spanning more than a century. The mineral waters of Archman are distinguished by their unique chemical composition and belong to the group of weakly alkaline sulphate-chloride-bicarbonate, sodium-calcium-magnesium waters. The sanatorium specializes in the treatment and prevention of digestive, skin and nervous system disorders. ///nCa, 20 August 2026
