The Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Turkmenistan Nasser Ahmed Mohammed Al-Taher hosted a celebration on Monday, 15 December 2025, to mark the National Day of Qatar.
Minister for Trade of Foreign Economic Relations Nazar Agahanov attended the reception as a guest of honor from Turkmenistan government.
In his speech, the Ambassador noted the role of the founder of modern Qatar, Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, in 1878. He highlighted Qatar’s outstanding mediation initiatives in the international arena, including efforts to support peace and stability.
Speaking about bilateral relations, the diplomat noted the rapid development of cooperation between Qatar and Turkmenistan in 2025 due to the fraternal ties between the leaders of the two countries. The mutual visits of high-ranking delegations were mentioned, including the visit of the President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, the Minister for International Cooperation, Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al‑Misnad, as well as the visit of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov.
The Ambassador congratulated President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the entire Turkmen people on the International Day of Neutrality, the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and the successful holding of the International Forum of Peace and Trust.

Ladies and gentlemen, Dear distinguished guests!
Today we celebrate the National Day of the State of Qatar, whose foundations as a sovereign state were laid by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed AL-THANI, in 1878.
On this occasion, we extend our warmest congratulations and best wishes to His Highness The Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad AL-THANI, as well as to His Highness The Father Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa AL-THANI, who have continued the path of glory, honor, and development, leading the progress towards a Qatari society capable of facing challenges and building a promising future.
We also congratulate the entire nation of the State of Qatar on this wonderful event.
As part of the “Vision 2030”, the State of Qatar has achieved significant milestones in the political, economic, cultural and sports spheres and has hosted numerous important events in 2025, culminating in the recent Doha Forum 2025 under the motto “Justice in Action: Beyond Promises to Progress”.
The State of Qatar has an important role on the international stage, leveraging its political potential and putting forward key initiatives and projects to support international cooperation, stability, and peace.
Moreover, its multiple mediation efforts in paving ways to peace, stability, and development in many countries at both regional and international levels have contributed to strengthening global peace and security, resolving conflicts through peaceful means, and supporting development and stability projects in various countries. The United Nations praised the pivotal and continued efforts of the State of Qatar, which resulted in signing of the Doha Framework Agreement for Peace between the Government of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Congo River Alliance “March 23 Movement” on November 15, 2025. This agreement sets guiding principles toward achieving lasting peace.
The State of Qatar has also contributed to the signing of the Peace Agreement between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, achieved through Qatari‑American mediation which has once again drawn the world’s attention to the State of Qatar as an effective mediator in resolving conflicts and crises on a global scale.
His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim AL-THANI Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed in a speech delivered at a ceremony in Ireland on the occasion of his receiving the Tipperary International Peace Award, that “His Highness the Amir of The State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad AL-THANI, is a rare model of leadership in today’s world, he does not merely govern, but feels, and devotes all his effort and soul to every duty, from meeting the needs of his citizens to supporting regional and international peace”.

During the current year 2025, bilateral cooperation between the State of Qatar and Turkmenistan has witnessed significant progress, driven by the close fraternal relations between the leaders of our friendly countries, His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad AL-THANI, and His Excellency the President of Turkmenistan, Mr. Serdar Berdimuhamedow, and their aspirations to elevate these relations to a higher level, particularly in the political, economic, cultural, and sports spheres. Meetings and consultations were held between senior officials of the two governments, accompanied by reciprocal visits. Turkmenistan received a number of delegations from the State of Qatar, among the most notable of which were:
- the visit of His Excellency Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad AL-THANI, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, First Vice President of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), and Vice President for Asia.
- the visits of Her Excellency Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al‑Misnad, Minister of State for International Cooperation, for participation in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries and The International Conference on “The Role of Women in Modern Society: Developing International Cooperation to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals” held in Awaza Tourist Zone, as well as in the High-level International Forum for Peace and Trust held in Ashgabat;
Likewise, numerous Turkmen delegations have visited the State of Qatar, including:
- the visit of His Excellency Mr. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, to participate in the Extraordinary Arab‑Islamic Summit. This visit followed a statement of support for the State of Qatar issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, condemning Israel’s bombing of a residential area in Doha and considering it an attack on the sovereignty of the State of Qatar and a violation of international law. The Embassy once again reaffirms its sincere gratitude to the Government of Turkmenistan for this fraternal position.
- the visit of Her Excellency Ms. Oguljahan Atabaeva, Vice President for Medical Activities of the Charity Fund for Providing Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and her accompanying delegation, to Doha for participation in the Doha Forum 2025.
