On 1 April 2026, Nokerguly Atagulyev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan overseeing the trade sector, has arrived in Azerbaijan for an official visit.
On the first day of the visit, Atagulyev held a meeting with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, Mikayil Jabbarov. As co-chairs of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation, the two officials conducted an in-depth review of the current state and future prospects of the bilateral partnership.
Particular attention was paid to the significant potential for strengthening trade and investment ties. Participants discussed opportunities for implementing joint projects across various sectors, with key topics including the expansion of cooperation in energy, transport, transit, and logistics.
On the same day, Atagulyev met with Azerbaijan’s Minister of Digital Development and Transport, Rashad Nabiyev. The parties discussed the advancement of transport cooperation between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan and addressed current operational issues within this field.
The Turkmen delegation also includes Mammet Akmammedov, Minister of Railway Transport; Nazar Agahanov, Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations; and other officials.
