As of 1 January 2026, Turkmenistan continues the steady development of its electronic commerce infrastructure. This is confirmed by official data published on the website of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.
According to the presented statistics, 1,043 trading points are currently connected to the electronic commerce system (E-Commerce) through various banks. These are specialized online stores and enterprises that accept bank card payments via the internet.
The leader in the number of e-commerce points remains Halkbank Joint-Stock Commercial Bank with 571 points. A significant contribution is also made by Rysgal Joint-Stock Commercial Bank with 248 points. The remaining participants are distributed as follows:
- State Commercial Bank of Turkmenistan “Türkmenistan” — 110 points
- State Bank for Foreign Economic Affairs — 37 points
- Senagat Joint-Stock Commercial Bank — 60 points
- Turkmen-Turkish Joint-Stock Commercial Bank — 13 points
- Türkmenbaşy Joint-Stock Commercial Bank — 2 points
- Daýhanbank State Commercial Bank — 2 points
Geographically, the vast majority of internet points are concentrated in the capital: Ashgabat leads with 719 connected points (almost 69% of the total). The situation in other regions is as follows:
- Lebap velayat — 90 points
- Mary velayat — 70 points
- Balkan velayat — 68 points
- Dashoguz velayat — 50 points
- Ahal velayat — 40 points
- City of Arkadag — only 6 points
The most noticeable indicator of growth is the volume of non-cash payments made through electronic commerce systems:
- As of 1 December 2025 — 2,634,893,721 manat
- As of 1 December 2024 — 1,435,636,141 manat
Thus, over the course of one year, the volume of payments through online stores and online services has increased by almost 84% (+1,199 million manat).
Against the background of the overall acceleration of digitalization in Turkmenistan’s banking sector (active introduction of bank cards, modern POS-terminals, and mobile banking), the e-commerce segment is still developing at a moderate pace.
However, it was precisely in 2025–2026 that the Government of the country adopted a number of strategic documents, including the Concept for the Development of the Digital Economy for 2026–2028, which assigns one of the priority places to the development of online trade and digital payments.
It is expected that in the coming years the number of internet payment acceptance points will continue to grow as the national program for the digitalization of the economy is implemented and conditions for the development of online commerce in the country are simplified. ///nCa, 12 January 2026
