On 11 December 2025, National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a number of bilateral meetings with the Presidents and Prime Ministers of foreign countries participating in the International Forum of Peace and Trust. He also had a telephone conversation with the President of Azerbaijan.
Kyrgyzstan
At the meeting with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, which took place at Ashgabat International Airport, the mutual interest of Turkmenistan and the Kyrgyz Republic in the further development of traditionally friendly interstate relations in a wide range of areas was noted.
Uzbekistan
During the meeting with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the parties paid special attention to the issues of further expansion of Uzbek-Turkmen relations of strategic partnership, friendship and good neighborliness, primarily in the political, interparliamentary, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres. The leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan also discussed topical issues on the regional and international agenda.
Iran
The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met the President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian at the International Airport of the capital. As it was emphasized, Turkmenistan’s peaceful foreign policy is based on the legal status of permanent neutrality. This unique doctrine, being the foundation for ensuring peaceful coexistence, security and sustainable development in the region, has proved its effectiveness as a tool that has allowed Turkmenistan to act as a reliable partner and active member of the international community for 30 years. The sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of Turkmen-Iranian relations.
Tajikistan
The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the International Airport. During the conversation, key issues of Turkmen-Tajik relations were discussed and strong confidence was expressed that bilateral cooperation would continue to develop successfully in all areas of mutual interest.
Kazakhstan
The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at the capital’s International Airport. During the meeting, prospects for further Turkmen-Kazakh cooperation in various areas were discussed. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev highly appreciated the results of the state visit of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Kazakhstan in late November and noted the need for practical implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level.
Türkiye
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the International Airport of the capital. During the meeting, the sides also noted the high interest of the parties in further strengthening Turkmen-Turkish relations and expressed confidence that interstate cooperation will continue to develop dynamically in a wide range of areas.
Azerbaijan
During a telephone conversation with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov highly appreciated the participation of the Azerbaijani delegation headed by Vice President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva in the International Conference “The Role of Women in Modern Society: development of International cooperation towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals” in Avaza. Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Azerbaijan has played an important role at all stages of the international recognition of the country’s legal status of neutrality. Arkadag also noted that the participation of Azerbaijani Prime Minister Ali Asadov in the celebrations on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality was perceived as a sign of the high respect shown to Turkmenistan. In turn, Aliyev expressed confidence that the traditionally good-neighborly relations between the two countries will continue to bring positive results, and confirmed that Azerbaijan is always ready to develop and strengthen the established fruitful cooperation with Turkmenistan. During the conversation, the role of the founder of the Azerbaijani state, Heydar Aliyev, in the development of Turkmen-Azerbaijani relations was emphasized. On 12 December, the Azerbaijani people honors the memory of Heydar Aliyev.
The UN
At a meeting with Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations, Director General of the UN Office in Geneva Tatiana Valovaya, Berdimuhamedov noted that Turkmenistan consistently implements a policy based on the status of permanent neutrality. Turkmenistan is contributing to strengthening peace and sustainable development in the region, Tatiana Valovaya said, assuring that, as a UN representative, she would contribute to holding this International Forum at a high level.
The development of multifaceted cooperation with the United Nations is one of the key vectors of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy. Turkmenistan is ready to continue to provide comprehensive support to the activities of the United Nations, as well as its efforts to strengthen political and diplomatic dialogue and trust in the region, noted Arkadag Berdimuhamedov.
The OSCE
National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Feridun Sinirlioglu. As noted, Turkmenistan advocates active partnership in the international arena in order to maintain universal peace and sustainable development, attaching particular importance to the coordination of efforts within the OSCE. In this regard, the effective nature of bilateral relations was noted at the present time. “Our country, which has enormous reserves of energy resources, is implementing concrete work to ensure international energy security,” Arkadag said.
Institute of Global Innovation Research, the Republic of Korea
National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with Director of the Institute of Global Innovation Research of the Republic of Korea Kim Jin Pyo. Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of relations established with the Republic of Korea. Parliamentary diplomacy was mentioned among the multi-vector relations, the role of which is steadily growing. In this context, Arkadag noted that, as Chairman of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, Kim Jin Pyo made a great contribution to the development of cooperation with Turkmenistan. ///nCa, 12 December 2025
