Ashgabat, 15- 16 April 2024: ¾ The Regional Office for Central Asia of the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (ROCA OHCHR) held a technical workshop to prepare the State delegation for a dialogue with the UN Committee against Torture cat at the Institute of State, Law, and Democracy of Turkmenistan.
The workshop gathered members of the state delegation of Turkmenistan, including the Permanent Mission of Turkmenistan in Geneva, Switzerland who will participate in the constructive dialogue with the Committee on the implementation of the Convention against Torture and Other Cruel Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment. The constructive dialogue of Turkmenistan is scheduled from 23 to 24 April in Geneva.
CAT is a body of 10 independent experts that monitors the implementation of the Convention against Torture by its States parties. Turkmenistan is expected to provide information on progress made on the implementation of the concluding observations adopted by CAT in 2016.
