On 25 February 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, participated in a joint meeting of Central Asian foreign ministers with Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the Speaker of the House of Commons of the UK Parliament. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the Turkmen side expressed gratitude for the consistent efforts directed at strengthening inter-parliamentary ties. In this context, emphasis was placed on the ongoing implementation of the 2011 Memorandum of Understanding, as well as the active work of parliamentary friendship groups.
Additionally, a meeting was held at the Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with members of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Central Asia, chaired by Pam Cox.


The Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian nations have arrived in London for their first (since the gaining of independence) joint meeting with the UK Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, in the “C5+1” format.
