On 30 March 2026, a meeting was held in Tbilisi between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan for Trade, Nokerguly Atagulyev, and the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the current state and future prospects of bilateral economic relations, with a particular focus on stimulating mutual investments and implementing joint projects in priority sectors.
Both sides expressed interest in enhancing cooperation in energy, transport, the digital economy, and innovation, emphasizing the importance of creating favorable conditions for direct contacts between the business communities of Turkmenistan and Georgia.
Transport and Logistics
According to the Ministry of Economy of Georgia, during the meeting Georgia welcomed the active partnership with Turkmenistan in the fields of logistics and transport and supports the development of seamless freight and passenger traffic.
In the transport cooperation segment, the parties reviewed the potential for increasing cargo flows toward Georgian ports.
“The Turkmen side is interested in developing warehouse and logistics infrastructure near Georgia’s operating ports and investing in this direction. To this end, a visit by a Turkmen delegation to Georgian ports is planned to inspect the relevant infrastructure,” the Ministry of Economy of Georgia emphasized.
The Georgian side highlighted the importance of developing safe, reliable, and competitive transport routes and expressed readiness to continue cooperation with Turkmenistan in both bilateral and multilateral formats.
Energy
Furthermore, the participants discussed expanding cooperation in the energy sector.
The Georgian side expressed its readiness to actively support projects for transporting Turkmen gas and oil through Georgia to Türkiye and onwards to Europe.
Future Plans
It was also noted that the Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Economic Cooperation remains one of the most effective formats for discussing trade and economic initiatives. Its next meeting is scheduled to take place on 6–7 May 2026 in Ashgabat.
The parties agreed to organize a Turkmen-Georgian business forum in the near future.
The Georgian delegation at the meeting also included Deputy Ministers of Economy and Sustainable Development Genadi Arveladze and Tamar Ioseliani, Director General of Georgian Railway Lasha Abashidze, and the Ambassador of Georgia to Turkmenistan Konstantine Sabiashvili. ///nCa, 31 March 2026
