On Wednesday (25 Feb 2026) afternoon, Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Rashid Meredov, met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Ms. Odile Renaud-Basso, according to the foreign ministry of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the sides discussed expanding financial and investment cooperation and the implementation of joint projects.
Minister Meredov emphasized that Turkmenistan places particular importance on strengthening international partnerships, including enhanced cooperation with leading financial institutions and banking structures, as part of its national economic development strategy. In this regard, he highlighted the effective and long-standing nature of the country’s partnership with the EBRD.
The Bank’s President reaffirmed the EBRD’s interest in further expanding mutually beneficial ties with Turkmenistan.
Special attention was paid to the implementation of projects aimed at developing the East-West international transport corridor. The Turkmen side confirmed its readiness to consider specific EBRD proposals for participation in initiatives within this sector.
Boosting cooperation in the energy sector was also identified as a top priority. In this context, the sides noted significant opportunities for EBRD involvement in ongoing sustainable energy projects.
Concluding the meeting, both parties expressed confidence in the continued steady development of bilateral cooperation and exchanged best wishes.///nCa, 26 February 2026
