During a press conference in Ashgabat, the Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye, Ahmet Demirok, named the transport sector as one of the priority vectors of bilateral cooperation. Special attention was paid to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor), an initiative that is garnering increasing global interest.
The diplomat emphasized the interconnectivity of the two countries in freight logistics: “Turkmenistan serves as a vital route for delivering Turkish goods to Central Asian markets, while Türkiye holds a key position for Turkmenistan in facilitating transport toward Europe.”
The Ambassador noted that the Middle Corridor currently stands out as the most secure and practical route, a fact confirmed by the growing interest from both the United States and the European Union.
“To increase the efficiency of the Middle Corridor, it is necessary to accelerate our work on developing multimodal transport and simplifying and speeding up procedures, both in a bilateral format and in a trilateral format involving Azerbaijan,” Ahmet Demirok emphasized.
He highly praised Turkmenistan’s efforts to improve its transport and logistics infrastructure. In his view, the Port of Turkmenbashi, constructed by Turkish contracting firms, possesses significant logistical potential.
“We are always ready to cooperate within the framework of efforts to further develop transport and maritime infrastructure on the Caspian Sea,” the diplomat concluded. ///nCa, 29 January 2026
