On 6 August 2025, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held a meeting with President of the Republic of Armenia Vahagn Khachaturyan, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.
President Berdimuhamedov expressed his appreciation to the Armenian leader for attending the international forum, jointly organized with the UN, and emphasized that the presence of the President of Armenia at such a significant event—held once every ten years—demonstrates the importance attached to advancing sustainable development in landlocked developing countries.
In response, President Vahagn Khachaturyan thanked Turkmenistan for the invitation and commended the high level of organization of the conference, noting its vital role in strengthening cooperation among developing nations facing similar geographic challenges.
During the meeting, both sides expressed satisfaction with the dynamic development of Turkmen-Armenian relations, built on the principles of equality, mutual respect, and trust. In recent years, bilateral cooperation has reached a qualitatively new level, supported by regular high-level visits, constructive dialogue, and consultations across various areas of partnership.
Particular attention was given to trade and economic cooperation, which is viewed as a key vector of interstate relations. The parties voiced interest in expanding the range of mutual trade and exploring new avenues for collaboration.
The importance of cultural and humanitarian dialogue was also underscored, with both leaders recognizing the vast potential for exchange in science, education, culture, and the arts.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Presidents Berdimuhamedov and Khachaturyan exchanged warm wishes and reaffirmed their confidence in the continued advancement of Turkmen-Armenian cooperation for the benefit of both nations. ///nCa, 7 August 2025
