Trade volumes through the “Shavat-Dashoguz” Turkmen-Uzbek Border Trade Center continue to see consistent growth.
According to the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan, approximately 60,000 citizens of Uzbekistan made purchases at the center in January-March of this year. This resulted in the export of more than 1,700 tons of goods from Turkmenistan.
During the same period, over 250 tons of products were imported into Turkmenistan from the Uzbek section of the trade zone.
Turkmen-made products in high demand among Uzbek buyers include soft drinks, confectionery, fresh tomatoes, detergents, textiles, and other consumer goods. In turn, Turkmen consumers primarily purchase household goods, dried fruits, and Uzbek-manufactured textiles.
The “Shavat-Dashoguz” Border Trade Zone has been operational since November 2025. Citizens of both countries can visit and remain within the trade zone for up to 15 days without a visa.
On the Uzbek side, trade is conducted primarily in Uzbek sums and US dollars, though some sellers also accept Turkmen manats. In the Turkmen section, prices are mostly listed in manats, but some vendors also accept sums and dollars.
Trade operations conducted through the center are exempt from all customs duties and other mandatory payments. /// nCa, 10 April 2026
