On Wednesday, 4 March 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmet Gurbanov and the Vice Minister for Public Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, Lim Sang-woo.
The diplomats highly praised the current dynamics of bilateral relations, which are actively developing across political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian sectors.
A central focus of the negotiations was the preparation for upcoming high-level visits and events.
In this context, both parties emphasized the importance of holding regular Turkmen-Korean political and consular consultations. These formats are viewed as an effective mechanism for the systematic and comprehensive discussion of the full spectrum of issues on the bilateral agenda.
The sides exchanged views on pressing international and regional issues, with particular attention paid to the situation in the Middle East. The diplomats agreed that, under current conditions, it is vital for the international community to consolidate efforts to strengthen peace, ensure security, and maintain stability in the region.
Deputy Foreign Minister Lim Sang-woo took the opportunity to express gratitude to the Turkmen side for its assistance in organizing the transit of South Korean citizens traveling from Iran.
