Within the framework of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) project, implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, “Developing National Capacity through Improving Regulatory Environment towards Energy Efficient and Sustainable Building Sector”, and in collaboration with the Turkmen State Energy Institute (TSEI, Mary), an International Conference on “Studying International Experience in Constructing Buildings with Rational Energy Consumption” was held on 17 February 2026.
The event brought together representatives from the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, TSEI academic staff and students, specialists from the Scientific and Production Center for Renewable Energy at TSEI, as well as international consultants from the UNDP/GEF and European Union projects, including Sustainable Energy Connectivity in Central Asia (SECCA).
The conference aimed to exchange experience and enhance the knowledge of professionals, faculty, and students on the construction of energy-efficient buildings, the use of renewable energy sources, and modern approaches to reducing energy consumption. Participants discussed the achievements of European countries in this field, explored opportunities to adapt best practices in Turkmenistan, and received information on building the capacity of civil engineers in energy efficiency and renewable energy.
The conference also considered prospects for cooperation between TSEI and the UNDP/GEF project to advance energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy in Turkmenistan’s construction sector.
