On 18 February 2026, Turkmenistan traditionally celebrates the Day of Diplomatic Workers. On this occasion, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov sent a congratulatory message to all employees of the diplomatic service, the text of which was published by state media.
In his address, the Head of State emphasized that the current year is held under the motto “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Motherland of Winged Heavenly Horses,” within the framework of which new goals have been set to further enhance the international prestige of Turkmenistan.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that diplomatic workers will make a worthy contribution to the development of political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation at both regional and global levels.
The President highlighted the key achievements of the country’s foreign policy course, based on the principles of permanent neutrality, equality, and good-neighborliness:
- The triple recognition of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality by UN General Assembly resolutions;
- The activity of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in Ashgabat;
- The adoption by the UN General Assembly of a package of resolutions based on Turkmenistan’s initiatives in the fields of peacekeeping, security, and sustainable development;
- The hosting of a high-level International Forum on the occasion of International Neutrality Day.
Special attention in the message was paid to the initiative to declare 2028 as the “Year of International Law,” which, according to the President, strengthens not only the legal but also the spiritual foundations of global peace by promoting the principles of mutual respect and justice.
Berdimuhamedov noted that along with the successful implementation of strategic directions of the country’s foreign policy, necessary conditions are currently being created for the realization of major international projects in energy, transport, communications, ecology, the “green” economy, and the cultural-humanitarian sphere.
The President emphasized the high requirements placed on the diplomatic service today: the introduction of effective mechanisms for political-diplomatic, international-legal, and trade-economic consultations at the interstate and intergovernmental levels.
In conclusion, the Head of State expressed his conviction that diplomats will fulfill their responsible tasks of protecting national interests and increasing the authority of Turkmenistan within the system of international relations at the highest level./// nCa, 18 February 2026
