Rovshan Rustamov, Chairman of Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, part of AZCON Holding, paid a working visit to the International Seaport of Turkmenbashi. The meeting became an important stage in the implementation of the strategy to transform the region into a key transport hub of Eurasia.
According to the Azerbaijan Railways, during the visit, the director of the port, Parakhat Dzhumayev, made a detailed presentation for the Azerbaijani delegation. The delegation got acquainted with the current technical capabilities of the port; large-scale transport infrastructure; transit potential of the harbor as the western gateway to Central Asia.


The central topic of the talks was the coordination of the work of the two largest ports in the region — the Baku International Seaport and the port of Turkmenbashi. The parties stressed that the synchronous development of these facilities is a critical factor for the smooth functioning of the Middle Corridor.
As part of the discussion on improving the efficiency of operations, technical aspects were touched upon, including carrying out the necessary dredging operations in the Caspian Sea to receive heavy-duty vessels.


The parties paid special attention to the expansion of communication between the Caspian and Black Seas. It was emphasized that the expansion of communication between the two seas will contribute to an increase in traffic volume and increase the efficiency of operations along the Middle Corridor.
The importance of coordinated port activities within the framework of the Eurasian Transport Route was noted in terms of ensuring efficient, fast and safe cargo transportation along the Middle Corridor. ///nCa, 12 February 2026
