Construction of the medical cluster — one of the most important components of the second phase of the smart city — continues in Arkadag city. On Saturday, 10 January, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov visited the site to oversee the integration of advanced technologies and international standards within this project.
The meeting held in Arkadag was attended by heads of the Japanese firms Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd and Sumitomo Heavy Industries Plastics Machinery, the Korean companies EM Korea Co., Ltd and Korea Meditech Co., Ltd, as well as representatives of the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries, the Kiyanly polymer plant, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of the country, the economic society “Garagum” (which is participating in the construction of the medical cluster and equipping its production facilities), and the Ambassadors of Turkmenistan to Japan and the Republic of Korea.
During the meeting, certificates confirming the quality and environmental safety of local raw materials to be used at the enterprises of the medical cluster, as well as certificates for the finished products, were presented. Special attention was given to the certificates of compliance of the Arkadag medical cluster with ISO international standards.
Arkadag Berdimuhamedov highlighted three key priorities for the development of the medical cluster:
- maximum use of domestically produced environmentally friendly natural raw materials;
- ensuring the highest quality of manufactured products;
- complete satisfaction of the domestic market needs with subsequent export of surplus production.
The National Leader emphasized the need for strict quality control of construction materials and structures during the construction of second-phase facilities, acceleration of work pace, and full compliance with modern global standards and advanced technologies.
Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of Arkadag City under the President of Turkmenistan D. Orazov reported on the current status of the second phase implementation and confirmed the availability of all necessary certificates of compliance with ISO standards for the quality of raw materials used at the enterprises.
Heads of the Turkmenbashi Oil Refinery Complex and the Kiyanly polymer plant reported on measures being taken to increase the volume and quality of environmentally friendly raw materials for the needs of the medical cluster.
In turn, representatives of the Japanese and Korean companies assured that all supplied equipment meets the highest international standards and that its implementation in Central Asia is taking place for the first time. The companies confirmed their readiness to ensure uninterrupted and high-quality deliveries within the established deadlines.
Berdimuhamedov also stressed that all products manufactured at the cluster — medical gowns, bandages, sterile solutions, medicines and other medical products — are intended directly for the country’s healthcare system. They must fully meet the requirements of environmental safety and international quality standards.
Looking ahead, the cluster aims to significantly scale production and diversify its product line to serve both the domestic market and growing export demands.
Furthermore, the National Leader instructed the Ambassadors to Japan and the Republic of Korea to strengthen interstate ties, providing specific recommendations on coordinating with international partners to advance these strategic industrial goals. ///nCa, 12 January 2026
