On 5 August 2025, a trilateral meeting was held in Awaza with the participation of Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov.
According to the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov conveyed greetings from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to the National Leader of Turkmenistan and the President of Uzbekistan. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed gratitude for the kind words and asked to convey greetings in return to the head of the Azerbaijani state.
During the meeting, the leaders noted the special role of Azerbaijan in the family of Central Asian countries and in the Advisory Council of the Heads of State of the region. They stressed that Azerbaijan plays a key role in strengthening ties in Eurasia, making a significant contribution to regional and global cooperation.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the format of cooperation between Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan has already actually developed and should become a permanent practice, meeting the requirements of the time.
The meeting touched upon key aspects of cooperation, including humanitarian and cultural ties, as well as economic partnership. Special attention was paid to strategic areas such as transport, logistics and energy.
The leaders expressed mutual interest in further deepening cooperation in these areas, which is important for the economic development of the region.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov also noted the agreements reached during his recent visit to Azerbaijan. In particular, the initiative to build a mosque in the Fuzuli district, as well as the establishment of twinning relations between the cities of Fuzuli and Arkadag, was agreed with President Ilham Aliyev.
