President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan has extended his congratulations to the people of Turkmenistan on the arrival of the sacred holiday of Oraza Bayramy (Eid al-Fitr, or the Festival of Breaking the Fast).
The President’s congratulatory message was published on 20 March 2026 in the country’s official media outlets.
Eid al-Fitr is one of the two most significant Muslim holidays, marking the end of the holy month of fasting, Ramadan (Oraza). Observed on the first day of the month of Shawwal according to the Islamic lunar calendar, it symbolizes spiritual purification, gratitude to the Almighty for the completed fast, and the ideals of moral purity, humanism, goodwill, and mercy. On this day, Muslims perform the festive prayer, give alms (sadaka, agzachar), visit relatives and friends, and exchange gifts, particularly with children.
In his address, the President emphasized that Oraza Bayramy, which has been refined over centuries with traditions passed down through generations, solemnly proclaims the ideals of humanism and benevolence.
The holiday is being celebrated with musical and cultural festivities across all cities and villages of Turkmenistan, including Ashgabat and the magnificent city of Arkadag—where modern technology, ecology, and national architecture are harmoniously integrated.
“In the Era of the Revival of the New Epoch of the Powerful State, worthily upholding the principles of peace, good-neighborliness, and brotherhood, we pursue a policy that serves the interests of both our country and the global community. All this bears witness to the successful implementation of great deeds based on national and universal values and humanistic ideals, for the sake of the great future of our sacred Motherland, the happiness of our beloved people and all humanity, and in the name of peace on the planet,” the message stated. ///nCa, 20 March 2026
