On 10 March 2026, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted an interactive dialogue titled “The Role of Women Diplomats in Society and Their Achievements.” The event was held as part of the second regional training for young diplomats and civil servants from Central Asian countries.
The event was organized in collaboration with the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan. Participants included female staff from foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, institute faculty, and students.
Key speakers during the dialogue included:
- Myahri Byashimova, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan;
- Rana Abu Hijleh, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Palestine to Turkmenistan;
- Faryal Leghari, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Turkmenistan;
- Narine Sahakyan, UNDP Resident Representative in Turkmenistan;
- Chinar Rustemova, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO.
The discussions placed special emphasis on the significance of Turkmenistan’s policy of permanent neutrality, which serves as a model for promoting peace initiatives and establishing trust-based dialogue in international relations. It was noted that the principle of “Dialogue is a Guarantee of Peace,” implemented through the framework of neutrality, strengthens the role of women in diplomacy and supports their initiatives for ensuring regional peace.
Participants underscored that women’s professional achievements in public administration and international cooperation directly influence sustainable global development.
This seminar, conducted within the second regional training for young diplomats and civil servants of Central Asia, provided an effective platform for enriching the professional experience of young specialists. It once again demonstrated the vital role of women in the peacemaking diplomacy of neutral Turkmenistan. ///nCa, 10 March 2026
