On 4 March 2026, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, received the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Tangryguly Atakhallyev, who is visiting Dushanbe.
During the meeting, President Rahmon highlighted the significant potential for advancing cooperation across various economic sectors, specifically focusing on trade, industry, transport, logistics, and agriculture.
Both parties expressed a strong interest in expanding cultural and humanitarian ties. This includes enhancing cooperation in sports and tourism, as well as promoting youth, cultural, and scientific-educational exchanges.
The sides also exchanged views on maintaining a consistent interstate dialogue across the full spectrum of the bilateral agenda. Furthermore, they emphasized the importance of close interaction within the framework of international and regional organizations.
The Turkmen delegation, led by DPM Atakhallyev, participated in the meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation. The Tajik side of the Commission was co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Sulaimon Ziyozoda.

Following the deliberations on 4 March 2026, the co-chairs signed the Protocol of the 14th Meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission. Both sides expressed confidence that the timely and effective implementation of the agreements outlined in the Protocol will strengthen economic and social ties, increase bilateral trade turnover, and further develop comprehensive cooperation. ///nCa, 4 March 2026
