On Friday, 27 February 2026, the Embassy of Israel in Turkmenistan organized donation of 165 food basket with the help of Keyik Okara public society.
Vulnerable families from Ashgabat and around have come to Keyik okara office for receiving donation.
Each basket included everyday staples to help people prepare iftar at home and feel supported during the holy month.
During the event, Ambassador of Israel Ishmael Khaldi said: “We’re happy to be with you here today, in this meaningful gathering where different traditions, faiths and cultures reflect the same compassion.
In Islam, during the holy month of Ramadan, fasting from dawn to sunset teaches discipline, empathy, and gratitude. when the fast is broken at iftar, and families dine around table, reminds of the need for mercy, generosity, and coherent community. During ramadan, charity — zakat and sadaqah — flows smoothly so no one shall be left alone or hungry. Next week jews will celebrate purim. one of the deeds of purim is “mishloach manot”, a commandment of sending food gifts and baskets to the needy people so they can properly celebrate. the purpose of this practice in judaism is to fosters friendship and unity and gladden the hearts of the poor and orphans.
The great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragi calls humanity toward compassion. He wrote of unity and moral responsibility of every human being. His poetry calls people to live their belief — to purify the heart, to seek justice, to care for neighbor. He teaches that a true believer is known not by words, but by actions — by generosity, by justice, by care for neighbor.
This is why we’re here today. We see the as mitzvah, giving with heart, driven by the way of Makhtomguly. This is the essence of Mishloach Manot. This is the spirit of Ramadan. This is the wisdom of Makhtumgoly. Let’s live by them all..amen. Kabul bolsun. Ramadan kareem”. ///Embassy of Israel in Turkmenistan, 1 March 2026
