A meeting was held via videoconference between representatives of ADA University (Azerbaijan) and the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan (IIR MFA).
The event was attended by Fariz Ismayilzada, Vice Rector of ADA University; Gulshad Yusupova, Rector of the IIR MFA of Turkmenistan; Qismat Gozalov, Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Turkmenistan; and Gurbanmemmed Elyasov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan.
During the talks, the parties emphasized the strategic importance of developing inter-university cooperation in the scientific and educational spheres. Particular attention was paid to the role of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, which facilitates the systematic expansion of ties through the implementation of academic initiatives.
In accordance with the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding, the participants discussed:
- Organizing joint scientific-practical conferences and lectures;
- Activating student and faculty exchange programs;
- Cooperating in the field of scientific publications;
- Continuing the practice of training Turkmen diplomats at ADA University.
A separate topic of discussion was the implementation of joint cultural and educational projects. The parties noted the significance of the decision by UNESCO’s 43rd General Conference to proclaim December 15 as World Turkic Languages Day.
Reference was also made to the Decree of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, on the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, which historically took place in Baku. In this regard, the educational institutions explored possibilities for holding joint events dedicated to these landmark dates.
At the conclusion of the meeting, a constructive exchange of views took place regarding the long-term prospects for interaction within the framework of existing cooperation mechanisms.///nCa, 30 January 2026
