Since Turkmenistan gained its independence, Turkish companies have successfully implemented more than 1,000 major projects in the country with a total value exceeding US $ 54 billion. This was stated by the Ambassador of Türkiye to Turkmenistan, Ahmet Demirok, during a press conference for journalists in Ashgabat on Wednesday, 28 January 2026.
According to the diplomat, Turkish firms have made a significant contribution to the modernization of Turkmenistan’s infrastructure by building power plants, transmission lines, highways, residential complexes, shopping centers, universities, schools, administrative buildings, hotels, factories, canals, museums, parks, hospitals, and ports.
“We take immense pride in the contribution that Turkish companies and specialists are making to Turkmenistan’s large-scale investment projects. We are sincerely grateful to the leadership of Turkmenistan for the trust placed in our companies,” emphasized Ahmet Demirok.
The Ambassador stated that, taking into account ongoing projects from previous years and new contracts, the project portfolio of Turkish firms in Turkmenistan is approaching US $ 10 billion in value.
According to the diplomat, Turkish companies have expressed their readiness to participate in future large-scale initiatives, including the second stage of construction of the “smart city” Arkadag.
The trade turnover between Türkiye and Turkmenistan for January–November 2025 amounted to approximately US $ 2 billion Ankara and Ashgabat believe that the potential is significantly higher and have set a goal to increase mutual trade volume to US $ 5 billion in the coming years.
To strengthen business contacts, the 12th “Turkish Export Products Exhibition” will be held in Ashgabat on 10-12 February 2026, with the participation of more than 80 Turkish companies and Minister of Trade Ömer Bolat.
An important role in coordinating economic cooperation is played by the Intergovernmental Turkish-Turkmen Commission on Economic Cooperation. The 8th meeting of the commission was held in February 2025 in Ankara.
The Ambassador told that the 9th meeting is scheduled for April 2026 in Ashgabat under the co-chairmanship of Vice President of Türkiye Cevdet Yılmaz and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerguly Atagulyev.
Ambassador Ahmet Demirok stressed that Türkiye’s relations with Turkmenistan are developing in all areas based on mutual benefit. “Our country continues to be one of the largest trading partners of Turkmenistan,” he noted./// nCa, 28 January 2026
