On 22 January 2026, high-level consultations in the “Central Asia – Russia” format were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The meeting focused on the implementation of the Joint Action Plan for Central Asia and Russia for 2025–2027.
The head of the Turkmen delegation, Ambassador of Turkmenistan E. Aydogdyev, noted in his remarks the importance of practical implementation of the initiatives voiced by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the second Summit of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Russian Federation held last October in Dushanbe.
Particular emphasis was placed on Turkmenistan’s support for ideas and proposals aimed at strengthening stability, trust, and mutually beneficial cooperation. These efforts prioritize practical results, equality, and the consideration of the national interests of all participants.
The parties discussed possible ways to implement the outcomes of the Second Summit of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Russian Federation, including through consultations of relevant ministries and other government organizations of the six states.
Ways of establishing systematic work on the implementation of the Joint Action Plan and the mentioned initiatives of the Heads of State of Central Asia were discussed in detail. In this context, the issues of cooperation in the six-party format in the fields of trade and economics, transport and logistics, energy, medicine, cultural and humanitarian relations and ecology were considered.
