On 27 March 2026, the meeting of the Belarusian-Turkmen Joint Committee on International Road Transport concluded in Minsk. During the negotiations, the parties reached several agreements aimed at simplifying logistics and developing freight transport between the two nations.
One of the key outcomes of the meeting was the coordination of exchange quotas for permit forms for international road cargo transport for 2027. This was reported by the Ministry of Transport and Communications of Belarus.
Particular attention was paid to digitalization and technical control. On the basis of reciprocity, the parties agreed on the possibility of using digital tachograph printouts. This applies to drivers of vehicles authorized for international transport and equipped with digital control devices that meet the requirements of the AETR (the European Agreement Concerning the Work of Crews of Vehicles Engaged in International Road Transport).
A digital tachograph printout is a paper report generated by a built-in thermal printer, containing detailed information about the driver’s activities (work and rest periods), speed, mileage, and the vehicle’s technical parameters.
In addition to technical aspects, the meeting participants discussed practical steps to reduce administrative barriers. Specifically, topics such as options for simplifying administrative requirements for Belarusian companies performing international transport through the territory of Turkmenistan were raised.
The possibility of extending the permitted duration of stay for drivers within the territory of Turkmenistan was also discussed. /// nCa, 27 March 2026
