On March 26, 2026, a roundtable discussion was held at the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Bucharest dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence and the motto for 2026: “Independent, Permanent Neutral Turkmenistan – Homeland of Purposeful Heavenly Horses.”
The event brought together the staff from the Embassy of Turkmenistan, university professors, and students from Turkmenistan and Central Asian countries.
During the meeting, participants discussed Turkmenistan’s achievements in the political, economic, and cultural spheres during the years of Independence. Particular attention was paid to the importance of the policy of permanent positive neutrality, repeatedly recognized by the United Nations. It was noted that neutrality remains a key factor in the state’s sustainable development and an important part of its international identity.
Of particular interest was the presentation of the new book authored by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, titled “The Neutrality of Turkmenistan – a Bright way of Peace and Trust,” dedicated to the role of neutrality in the country’s development.
Particular emphasis was placed on Turkmenistan’s cultural heritage. In particular, the special role of Akhal-Teke horses as a national symbol embodying the historical traditions and spiritual values of the Turkmen people was noted.
Finally, the participants discussed practical issues of interest to Turkmen students, including consular matters.
The event clearly demonstrated the high level of interest in developing constructive dialogue and further strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation between Turkmenistan and Romania. ///nCa, 27 March 2026 (in cooperation with the Embassy of Turkmenistan to Romania)
