The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belarus, Nazarguly Shagulyyev, took part in the “Come and Bow” commemorative ceremony held at the Khatyn State Memorial Complex. The memorial event marked the 83rd anniversary of the Khatyn tragedy.
The ceremony began with the laying of a wreath at the Eternal Flame on behalf of the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko. The event was also attended by Igor Petrishenko, First Deputy Secretary General of the CIS, and members of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS member states.
Today, Khatyn is more than just a monumental landmark; it is a sacred space where every detail serves as a reminder of the horrific events of World War II. On 22 March 1943, Nazi forces completely wiped the village off the map. 149 residents, including 75 children, were burned alive or shot.
Opened in 1969, the Khatyn Memorial Complex stands as an outstanding example of memorial architecture. Its creators included architects Yuri Gradov, Valentin Zankovich, and Leonid Levin, along with sculptor Sergei Selikhanov. Decades later, the complex remains a place of unity for nations in their shared commitment to preserving historical truth and ensuring such tragedies never happen again. ///nCa, 24 March 2026
