On 18 March 2026, the International Forum “Investments in the Future of Turkmenistan” (IFT 2026) took place in Ashgabat.
The Chinese delegation at the forum was one of the largest and most diverse. It included leaders from more than twenty companies representing sectors that are especially important for Turkmenistan’s development. These businesses operate in areas such as the export and import of livestock products, cross-border trade, timber, climate control systems, intelligent agricultural equipment, seed production, new energy sources, IT, food, cultural and tourist construction, energy and chemical industries.
“All these companies are highly specialized in their core fields, have unique strengths, and have come here with a genuine interest in building practical cooperation,” said Liu Chuanwu, founder of the consulting firm Huahe International and chairman of the Silk Road Economic Alliance, during the forum.
As the speaker emphasized, the capabilities of these companies align very well with Turkmenistan’s current needs for industrial growth. This creates strong complementarity and excellent prospects for trade and economic cooperation between China and Turkmenistan.
Drawing on the long experience of Huahe International and the resources of the Silk Road Economic Alliance, Liu Chuanwu proposed three specific directions to deepen cooperation:
- Investment promotion and marketing: The Alliance plans to use its platforms to present Turkmenistan’s investment climate and opportunities to audiences in China. The goal is to encourage more high-quality Chinese companies to invest in Turkmenistan.
- Closer cooperation with the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET): The sides intend to establish permanent trade channels. Special focus will be placed on supplying agricultural machinery, energy equipment, chemical products, and agricultural goods. In addition, the Chinese side is ready to assist Turkmen government agencies and private companies with purchases in China — from product selection and business negotiations to signing contracts and ensuring their implementation.
- Regular delegation exchanges: To move from general statements to real contracts, a series of targeted visits will be organized. Turkmen specialists will be invited to China to share experience, while Chinese business delegations will travel to Turkmenistan for focused negotiations.
In closing his speech, Liu Chuanwu described the IFT 2026 forum as “a new starting point for deepening investment cooperation and jointly building the future between China and Turkmenistan.”
