Turkmenistan is ready for a strategic dialogue with Europe regarding new energy supply routes, long-term contracts, and joint ventures in renewable energy. This came statement from the remarks delivered by the country’s foreign minister Rashid Meredov, at a business reception with representatives of the UK business community in London on Thursday, 26 February 2026.
Minister Meredov noted that Turkmenistan possesses some of the world’s largest natural gas reserves and has consistently proven its status as a reliable and responsible partner over many years.
“In the context of European states revising their energy strategies, we express our readiness for substantive dialogue on new supply routes, long-term contracts, and joint projects, including the field of renewable energy,” sad the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan in a press release.
The Minister also highlighted emerging opportunities for British businesses, emphasizing Turkmenistan’s pivotal role in developing the Middle Corridor and modernizing transport infrastructure, including the strategic Port of Turkmenbashi.
Special emphasis was placed on the country’s favorable investment climate. Foreign investors in Turkmenistan benefit from a robust system of legal guarantees, international arbitration mechanisms, and special economic zones.
Beyond energy, Meredov identified several priority sectors for collaboration with British firms: petrochemicals, agribusiness, high-tech and infrastructure.
The reception featured a welcoming address by the UK Deputy Prime Minister, David Lammy, who underscored the importance of strengthening economic ties with Central Asia and fostering sustainable partnership projects. Brief remarks were also delivered by the Foreign Ministers of other Central Asian nations.
The event was attended by leading British corporations across various sectors, including Rio Tinto, Rolls-Royce, International Hospitals Group, and Intertek, representing industries such as mining, finance, infrastructure, critical minerals, and healthcare. ///nCa, 27 February 2026
