On 4 February, in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, a solemn ceremony was held for the presentation of the prestigious international award — the “Zayed Award for Human Fraternity.” This year’s laureates are the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, and the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, who were honored for their contribution to ending the long-standing conflict and their determination to achieve lasting peace in the region.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, addressed the participants of the ceremony with a welcoming video message.
“Today’s ceremony clearly confirms how important, effective, and promising are the approaches aimed at strengthening the principles of mutual understanding and trust, interstate dialogue, and efforts to resolve conflicts for the sake of peace and stability, as well as overcoming the complex problems of modern times,” the National Leader noted.
He emphasized that Turkmenistan holds the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia in great respect. Special importance is attached to the development of relations with these countries. The Turkmen people are united with the peoples of these nations by centuries of history, as well as political, economic, and cultural-humanitarian ties.
As Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, Turkmenistan — utilizing its status of permanent neutrality, existing potential, and accumulated political experience — is ready to provide comprehensive support for the implementation of the global and regional peace-building agenda. Furthermore, the country is prepared to assist in resolving urgent issues related to the protection of international law and the United Nations Charter.
Berdimuhamedov recalled that, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the UN declared 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust, which clearly confirmed the relevance and significance of these views. In this context, the adoption of important decisions regarding the achievement of peace and harmony between Azerbaijan and Armenia during the International Year of Peace and Trust holds truly great historical significance.
The National Leader of Turkmenistan expressed his confidence that the presentation of the “Zayed Award for Human Fraternity” to the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia will provide a new impetus to the further development of cooperation in political, diplomatic, socio-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres, elevating relations to a qualitatively new level. ///nCa, 6 February 2026 (video credit – AzTV)
