On 27 January 2026, a meeting was held between the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, J. Gurbangeldyev, and a delegation from the State of Qatar, led by Dr. Salem Nasser Al-Naemi, President of the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST).
According to the Ministry of Education, the visit included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on scientific and academic cooperation between the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan and the University of Doha for Science and Technology. This document establishes a legal framework for conducting joint research, organizing faculty and student exchange programs, and expanding collaboration in the field of modern technologies.
Furthermore, during the Qatari delegation’s visit, meetings were held with the rectors of the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan and the Oguz Han Engineering and Technology University of Turkmenistan.
During these discussions, the parties explored potential areas of cooperation, including the implementation of joint projects in digital technologies, engineering, information security, and innovative educational programs.
The Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan noted that this visit by the delegation from the University of Doha for Science and Technology is a logical continuation of the official visit made by the Turkmen delegation, led by the Minister of Education, to Doha in 2024.
