A business delegation from Turkmenistan, currently visiting Mbabane, Eswatini, was received on Monday, January 26, by the country’s Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini.
During the meeting, potential investment opportunities in Eswatini were discussed, according to The Times of Eswatini newspaper.
The delegation, led by Khydyrberdi Abdurakhmanov, owner and founder of Aydyn Gijeler Holding LTD, arrived in Eswatini on an exploratory business mission on behalf of the Government of Turkmenistan. The goal is to identify viable areas for cooperation.
In discussions with the Prime Minister, the delegation expressed strong interest in purchasing sugar from Eswatini, which could open new export markets for one of the country’s key agricultural products, the source reports.
The parties also explored ways to expand economic partnership, including prospects for investment in various sectors in line with Eswatini’s development priorities.
The Prime Minister emphasized his government’s commitment to creating favorable conditions for foreign investment. He expressed hope that the cooperation would develop into concrete partnerships that would contribute to economic growth, job creation, and sustainable development.
“This visit comes at an important time following the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries,” Dlamini said. “We are encouraged by your interest in Eswatini and look forward to engagements that will result in tangible investment outcomes.”
The Prime Minister also reaffirmed Eswatini’s readiness to build mutually beneficial partnerships with Turkmen companies.
In addition to trade and investment, representatives of Turkmen business circles highly praised Eswatini’s picturesque landscapes and the hospitality of its people, noting the country’s potential as an attractive tourist destination.
The meeting with the Turkmen delegation was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Senator Pholile Shakantu, Minister of Home Affairs Princess Lindiwe, and Eswatini’s Ambassador to the United Nations in New York Thami Dlamini, underscoring the strategic importance attached to the visit. ///nCa, 28 January 2026
