The application period for the prestigious ” Türkiye Bursları ” (Türkiye Scholarships) program for 2026 began on 10 January and will run until 20 February. The announcement came from the Ambassador Ahmet Demirok of Türkiye to Turkmenistan, during a press conference in Ashgabat.
Since 1992, more than 5,000 Turkmen students have received these scholarships and completed their education in Türkiye.
The Ambassador highlighted the significant role of the Joint Turkmen-Turkish School in Ashgabat, which currently provides education to 686 students, ranging from kindergarten to high school.
According to data from the Turkish Council of Higher Education (YÖK), approximately 40,000 students from Turkmenistan are enrolled in Turkish universities for the 2025–2026 academic year.
Türkiye remains the undisputed leader among the choices of Turkmen youth for higher education—a fact the Ambassador described as “yet another manifestation of the brotherly relations between the two countries.”
Managed by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), the “Türkiye Scholarships” program offers opportunities for higher education (undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels) at leading Turkish universities. The scholarship is comprehensive, covering:
- Full tuition fees
- Monthly stipend
- Accommodation
- Health insurance
- One-way flight ticket
- One-year Turkish language course
- Academic, social, and cultural support
Applications are submitted exclusively online through the official portal at https://www.turkiyeburslari.gov.tr/. The application process is free of charge and does not require separate university admission, as university placement is handled directly by the program. /// nCa, 28 January 2026
