On Saturday, 24 January 2026, a modern complex of buildings and facilities for a military unit was inaugurated in the Sayat district of Lebap province, eastern Turkmenistan. The ceremony was attended by the President of Turkmenistan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Army General Serdar Berdimuhamedov, reports the state news agency TDH.
The opening was timed to coincide with Defender of the Fatherland Day.
The construction of the complex was carried out by the Turkmen company “Aga gurluşyk.” The new facilities include a parade ground, a canteen, a House of Culture, barracks, a medical unit, an outdoor sports ground, and a training ground equipped with a reservoir. Additionally, the site features a parking lot, a helipad, and various administrative, utility, and social buildings.
During the ceremony, the President of Turkmenistan toured the administrative building, barracks, canteen, and gym.
Following the inspection, the Head of State was presented with modern military equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that have recently entered service with the National Army.


President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that the Armed Forces of Turkmenistan, guided by a defensive Military Doctrine and supported by the country’s legal status of permanent neutrality, remain a reliable fortress and the “steel shield” of the independent Motherland. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief noted that the material and technical base of the National Army will continue to be consistently strengthened, with a specific focus on increasing the professional standards of young soldiers and officers.
The President then proceeded to the training ground and reservoir. He observed demonstration performances by servicemen at the sports ground. At the training ground’s observation post, the Head of State reviewed the process of bridge construction using specialized engineering equipment designed for transporting military vehicles across water obstacles.



Furthermore, the President inspected new residential housing for military personnel and their families.
The social infrastructure includes four modern four-story buildings with 50 apartments each, accommodating a total of 200 families. The residential area is also equipped with a shop, a playground, and parking facilities.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, the President presented gifts to the new residents. Service vehicles were also donated to the military unit as a gift. /// nCa, 26 January 2026
