On Saturday, 24 January, a meeting was held between Oguljahan Atabayeva, Vice President for Medical Affairs of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, and Jalpa Ratna, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Representative in Turkmenistan, according to the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH).
During the meeting, the UNICEF Representative noted that the initiatives of the Turkmen State in the field of maternal and child health are fully aligned with the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She expressed a strong interest in deepening the relationship with the Charitable Foundation.
A key point of discussion was the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the UNICEF Country Office and the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Care.
The parties also touched upon critical aspects of ongoing joint projects. It was emphasized that bilateral cooperation has become systematic and long-term, covering vital areas such as healthcare, inclusive education, and the social integration of children.
The UNICEF Representative commended Turkmenistan’s responsible approach to fulfilling international obligations regarding children’s rights. She highlighted the Foundation’s activities as a crucial instrument for the practical implementation of state guarantees in this sphere.
