On 15 December 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov participated in an awarding ceremony for Turkmen students, athletes and schoolchildren, who won prize places at international subject olympiads and sports tournaments, as well as their teachers and coaches. The event took place at the Martial Arts Sports Complex in the Olympic Village of Ashgabat, as reported by the state agency TDH.
The ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Mejlis, Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of military and law enforcement agencies, ministries and departments, the mayor of Ashgabat, heads of Turkmen diplomatic missions abroad, representatives of accredited foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations in the country, parliament deputies, leaders of public organizations, university rectors, heads of national sports federations, media representatives, prize winners, their parents, teachers, coaches, and student youth.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized that in the era of the Revival of the new epoch of a powerful state, youth is assigned a special role. The state creates all modern conditions for it so that talented young people can multiply the glory of their country with their knowledge and abilities. The head of state noted that the successes of the younger generation are largely due to the work of experienced teachers and coaches.
The President paid special attention to the development of sports in the country: programmatic measures are being taken to train professional athletes and coaches, which allows Turkmen athletes to regularly take prize places on world arenas.
The head of state expressed confidence that athletes will continue to hold the flag of Turkmenistan high in the future, and work to support talented youth, science, education, and sports will continue.
In 2025, Turkmen schoolchildren and students achieved significant successes at international subject olympiads. The key achievements of schoolchildren in 2025 include:
- At the 66th International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in Sunshine Coast (Australia), the Turkmen team of 6 schoolchildren won 2 silver and 1 bronze medals among 630 participants from 110 countries.
- At the 57th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) in Dubai (UAE), 4 Turkmen participants received 1 silver and 1 bronze medals among 354 contestants from 90 countries.
- At the 55th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO) in Paris (France), 5 schoolchildren from Turkmenistan were awarded 2 silver and 2 bronze medals among 415 participants from 94 countries.
University students showed best results:
- At the 32nd International Mathematics Competition for University Students (IMC-2025) in Blagoevgrad (Bulgaria), groups from Turkmen universities won 2 gold, 2 silver, and 3 bronze medals among 434 participants from 52 countries.
- At the 5th International Olympiad on Financial Security in Krasnoyarsk (Russia), 10 Turkmen students took prize places, including 1st in the “Economics” discipline and several 2nd places in other categories among 600 contestants from 40 countries.
- At the 19th International Olympiad on Theoretical Mechanics in Gomel (Belarus), a female student from the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan took 3rd place among 110 participants from 31 universities.
- At the 4th International Chemistry Olympiad organized by TSU named after Magtymguly, two
- Turkmen students received gold medals among 250 participants from 12 countries.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov personally presented the awards at the ceremony.
- Olympiad prize winners received generous cash prizes:
40,000 manats for bronze (3rd place)
70,000 manats for silver (2nd place)
100,000 manats for gold (1st place) Their teachers were also honored, each receiving 100,000 manats.
- Athletes were awarded:
40,000 manats for third place
70,000 manats for second place
Coaches of silver and gold medalists were granted 70,000 manats each.
The highest distinction went to gold medalists at world tournaments and their coaches: each was presented with the keys to a brand-new white Toyota Camry HEV 2.5L (2025 model).
