On 26 – 27 November, 2025, the third meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatari Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation was held in Doha, State of Qatar. Heads and representatives of various government agencies and business circles of two countries participated in the meeting.
The session was co-chaired by Turkmenistan’s Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, Nazar Agahanov, and Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Sayed.
Ahead of the plenary session, the two ministers held a bilateral meeting to explore new opportunities for deepening trade and economic ties.
Discussions covered a broad spectrum of bilateral relations, spanning political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian areas.
The sides reviewed progress in trade, transport and logistics, oil and gas, industry, agriculture, water management, investment, and banking sectors, while assessing the implementation of agreements from the previous commission meeting.
Particular attention was given to expanding cooperation in science and education, culture, healthcare, sports and tourism, and environmental protection.
Both sides stressed the commission’s vital role in translating prior agreements into action and underscored the importance of regular high-level consultations.
The meeting concluded with the signing of the Protocol of the Third Meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Qatari Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation, laying the groundwork for enhanced bilateral partnership.
On the sidelines of the visit to Doha, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Mergen Gurdov had a meeting with First Vice-Chairman of the Qatar Chamber Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari on Wednesday, 26 Nov 2025.
The meeting discussed enhancing cooperation between the Qatar Chamber and its Turkmen counterpart, as well as efforts to activate the agreement signed in 2010 to establish the Qatari-Turkmen Joint Business Council, as to strengthen ties between the business communities in both countries and empower the Qatari and Turkmen private sectors to play a greater role in advancing economic cooperation, QNA reports.
In his remarks, Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari said that the Qatar Chamber supports strengthening cooperation between both countries’ private sectors and encourages Qatari businessmen to forge trade partnerships with their Turkmen counterparts, noting Qatari investors’ desire to learn about investment opportunities available in Turkmenistan.
For his part, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Mergen Gurdov hoped that cooperation between both chambers further develops and positively reflect on cooperation between the business communities in both countries.
Gurdov invited Qatari businessmen to visit Turkmenistan and explore investment opportunities.
In turn, Qatar Chamber Board Member Dr. Mohamed bin Jawhar Al Mohamed highlighted that establishing the joint business council will bring business communities closer, enable the study of available investment opportunities, and contribute to building stronger economic integration between the two nations. ///nCa, 28 November 2025
