The 30th International Conference “Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan – 2025” (OGT 2025) opened in Ashgabat on October 22, 2025, bringing together representatives from over 70 countries. The main speaker at the opening plenary session was Batyr Amanov, Deputy Prime Minister in charge of fuel and energy complex.
In his address, B. Amanov noted that under the leadership of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the country is consistently implementing a strategy of sustainable economic growth, centered on the development of the fuel and energy complex and the expansion of international cooperation.
“The main goal of the long-term strategy is to ensure sustainable development and strengthen Turkmenistan’s position as a reliable partner in the global energy market,” the Deputy Prime Minister stressed.
“Large-scale projects have been implemented in the country in a short period of time. Most of them are not only significant for developing the economic potential of the oil and gas industry but also play an important role in ensuring global energy security,” the speaker continued.
Particular attention in the speech was paid to major international projects, including the construction of the “Turkmenistan – Afghanistan – Pakistan – India” (TAPI) gas pipeline. The Deputy Prime Minister recalled that on 20 October, the National Leader of the Turkmen People inspected the progress of work on the Serhetabat – Herat section, emphasizing the strategic importance of the project for the sustainable development of the region.
Amanov highlighted the main directions and significant projects in the development of the oil and gas industry, namely:
- Cooperation in the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline.
- Development of offshore blocks located in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea through foreign investment.
- Cooperation in the development of oil and gas science and the practice of introducing new technologies, including the creation of underground gas storage facilities.
- Broad introduction of international experience in the advanced development of mature oil and gas fields and cooperation with experienced companies in this area.
- Expansion of deep processing of hydrocarbon resources.
- Exchange of experience with leading foreign companies in the field of seismic and geological surveys, as well as the implementation of digital technologies.
“We invite all interested parties to mutually beneficial cooperation for the implementation of projects planned in our country in the near future,” the Deputy Prime Minister stated.

With over 50 trillion cubic meters of confirmed natural gas reserves, Turkmenistan ranks fourth globally and plays a vital role in ensuring energy security and supply diversification. The OGT 2025 Opening Session will underscore the country’s growing significance in global energy markets and examine strategic opportunities for infrastructure modernization, expansion of export routes, and strengthening international partnership.
