Ashgabat, 23 September 2008 (nCa) --- A TV tower that will peak 1020 meters above sea level is under construction in Turkmenistan.

Turkish construction company Polimeks is doing the project.

Once completed, most of the TV, radio and digital transmission facilities and weather data collection units of Turkmenistan would be shifted to the TV tower.

Placed at the top of Hindivar mountain, some five kilometers from the southern edge of Ashgabat, the TV tower would probably be the most conspicuous landmark of Turkmenistan.

Solar energy will partly meet the power and illumination needs of the tower.

At the top of the tower there would be a viewing gallery and a revolving restaurant for 200 guests.

The 24-storey structure below the restaurant will house 10 studios, 100 rooms, technical and other facilities for electronic media, cafés and meeting hall.

The total internal covered area would be 54000 square meters.
