Ashgabat, 31 May 2008 (nCa) --- Murat Atanov, Kazakh ambassador to Turkmenistan, has suddenly passed away.

President Berdymuhamedov of Turkmenistan has sent a message of condolence to President Nursultan Nazarbaev of Kazakhstan.

“Turkmenistan will always remember the representative of Kazakhstan as a kind and sympathetic person, talented academic and flawless diplomat,” said Berdymuhamedov in his message.

The Turkmen president also expressed sympathy and support for the family of the departed soul.

Ambassador Atanov contributed greatly in transforming the North-South corridor from concept to reality. He played key role in straightening out the kinks in the Caspian Coastal Pipeline project.

Relations between Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan improved tremendously during the tenure of Atanov.
