Turkmenistan Gifts 500 Tons of Diesel Oil to Tajikistan

Ashgabat, 14 February 2008 (nCa) --- Turkmenistan will send 500 tons of diesel oil to afford some relief to the people shivering in the harsh winter of Tajikistan.

The decision was made public Wednesday during a meeting between President Berdymuhamedov and Sherali Gulov, minister of energy of Tajikistan who is visiting Turkmenistan for the joint session of the Turkmen-Tajik commission.

The retail price of diesel oil in neighbouring China is 5520 Yuan per ton. At the official exchange rates of Bank of China, it comes to nearly US $ 770 per ton.

In other words, the 500 tons of diesel oil gifted by Turkmenistan has a retail value of about US $ 385000.

A few days Turkmenistan sent a relief goods caravan to Afghanistan with 500 tons of diesel oil, 1000 tons of wheat flour and 9000 tons of garments and blankets.

When earthquake struck the Bam area of Iran a few year ago, Turkmenistan sent relief goods worth US $ 100000.
