Turkmenistan Gifts 500 Tons of Diesel Oil to Tajikistan
Ashgabat, 14 February 2008 (nCa) --- Turkmenistan will send 500 tons of diesel oil to afford some relief to the people shivering in the harsh winter of Tajikistan.
The decision was made public Wednesday during a meeting between President Berdymuhamedov and Sherali Gulov, minister of energy of Tajikistan who is visiting Turkmenistan for the joint session of the Turkmen-Tajik commission.
The retail price of diesel oil in neighbouring China is 5520 Yuan per ton. At the official exchange rates of Bank of China, it comes to nearly US $ 770 per ton.
In other words, the 500 tons of diesel oil gifted by Turkmenistan has a retail value of about US $ 385000.
A few days Turkmenistan sent a relief goods caravan to Afghanistan with 500 tons of diesel oil, 1000 tons of wheat flour and 9000 tons of garments and blankets.When earthquake struck the Bam area of Iran a few year ago, Turkmenistan sent relief goods worth US $ 100000.
