Ashgabat, 6 February 2008 (nCa) --- Turkish company Lotus Proje has been awarded contract to build a gas-fired power generation plan in Ashgabat. The rated capacity would be 254 megawatts.
Total cost of the project is Euro 120 million.
Work will start in March 2008 and the project should be ready by February 2010.
The new powerhouse will meet the projected demand of electricity in metropolitan Ashgabat where power consumption is growing by 10% per annum. The peak consumption in winter is 400 megawatt.
The powerhouse would be linked to power generation facilities in Abadan town (formerly Buzmeyin) and Kurtly in Ruhabat town. The networking would allow for flexibility in power distribution.
