Turkmenistan Gears for Reintroduction of Postgraduate and Doctoral Degrees
Ashgabat, 16 January 2008 (nCa) --- After a break of several years the educational system of Turkmenistan has started accepting candidates for postgraduate and doctoral degrees.
President Berdymuhamedov signed Tuesday a decree, clearing the way for the supreme council on science and technology to assess the candidates and award higher degrees and titles.
At present only the students of medicine and science would be accepted as research officers for studies leading to postgraduate and doctoral degrees.
Postgraduate candidates would get stipend equal to the salary of a junior research officer and doctoral candidates would be paid equal to the salary of a senior research officer.
Ministry of education would define rules for accepting the candidates. Ministry of economy and finance would provide stipends from the central budget of Turkmenistan.
