Turkmenistan Awards Contracts worth US $ 322 Million

Ashgabat, 14 July 2007 (nCa) --- Turkmenistan announced Friday award of contracts to several foreign firms. Total value of the contracts is nearly US $ 322 million.

Here are the details

  • Ministry of communications of Turkmenistan is authorized to sign a contract with the Chinese company Huawei Tech Investment Co. Ltd. for purchase of equipment for an additional 100000 connections to the cellular communications network of state provider. The total cost of the equipment is US $ 7.72 million.
  • State concern TurkmenNeft would sign a contract with the British company GP Global Equipment Ltd. for construction of a gas lifting-compression station at the Keimir deposit. Total value of the contract including VAT is US $ 135.865 million. The work should begin in September 2007 and the project should be ready by February 2009.
  • Larmour Productions, an offshore company registered in British Virgin Islands, will supply fishing equipment, tackles and other accessories worth US $ 59000 to the coastal fishing units of Turkmenistan.
  • State concern TurkmenGaz would sign a contract with the Turkish firm Bashyagychioglu Inshaat for construction of a children’s rest and recreation home at Teokdere resort. The rest home “Cheshme” will be able to accommodate 550 children simultaneously. The project cost is US $ 14.4 million. Work should begin on the project in July 2007 and it should be ready by May 2008.
  • Ministry of agriculture of Turkmenistan will sign a contract with the Turkish company Kylych Inshaat for design and construction of an agricultural institute in Dashoguz city. The institute, spread over an area of 30100 square meters, would take 700 students annually for agro-technology training. The institute will have its own model farm and complete pool of modern machinery. Project cost is US $ 38.185 million. Construction work should begin in August 2007 and the project should be ready by August 2009.
  • The ministry of energy and industry of Turkmenistan will sign a contract with the Turkish company Sehil for construction of state energy institute in Mary city. Project cost is US $ 28.75 million. Work should begin in August 2007 and the project should be ready by April 2009.
  • The ministry of public healthcare and medical industry will sign a contract with the Turkish company Polimeks for construction of the new building for the state medical university in Ashgabat. The university would provide be able to take 3000 students simultaneously. Total cost of the project is US $ 59 million. Project construction should begin in August 2007 and it should be ready for commissioning by September 2009.
  • Ministry of public healthcare and medical industry is authorized to sign a contract with IPS Motors, a company registered in Gibraltar, for delivery of fully equipped ambulances Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 224 KA 4x2. Unit cost of each ambulance is Euro 46500. Total cost of the order is Euro 2.415 million which includes Euro 90000 for spare parts, lubricants and other necessary items.
  • Ministry of public healthcare and medical industry will sign a contract with the Turkish company Gap Inshaat for designing and construction in Ashgabat of an international centre for treatment of diseases of the head and neck. The medical centre will be designed for 100 patients. Project cost is US $ 34.5 million which includes civil work, landscaping, diagnostic and treatment equipment, and training of the doctors and support staff. The project should be ready for operation by February 2009.
