Ashgabat, 31 October 2008 (nCa) --- Turkmenistan and Great Britain appeared ready Thursday for deeper trade and economic interaction when Duke of York, Prince Andrew, had a meeting with President Berdymuhamedov.

Prince Andrew, who is touring the Central Asian region as special envoy of Great Britain on international trade and industry, said that energy, trade and investment were priority areas for bilateral cooperation.

He stressed that the Great Britain, respecting the status of neutrality of Turkmenistan, intends to build partnership free of any political considerations.

President Berdymuhamedov said that opportunities were available for establishing full scale dialogue between Turkmenistan and Great Britain.

Berdymuhamedov told the Duke of York that Turkmenistan was fully committed to diversification of energy export routes, and was ready to consider any proposals.

The Turkmen president said his country sells gas at the border.

He mentioned that in addition to the hydrocarbon sector, there were other promising areas such as textile and transport.

Peter Butcher, Ambassador of Great Britain in Turkmenistan, was present during the meeting.
