Turkmen Delegation to Baku for Debt Settlement, Cooperation Talks
Ashgabat, 4 March 2008 (nCa) --- A high power delegation of Turkmenistan will travel to Baku on 5 March to discuss further strengthening of mutual cooperation and settlement of debts that Azerbaijan owes to Turkmenistan.
The delegation will include Khydr Saparliev, deputy prime minister and co-chair of joint Turkmen-Azeri commission, and Reshit Meredov, first deputy prime minister and foreign minister of Turkmenistan.
Saparliev has been authorized to sign appropriate intergovernmental agreements on behalf of the government of Turkmenistan.
Azerbaijan owes US $ 44.8 million to Turkmenistan on account of the gas supplies it received and some inter-bank settlements outstanding since 1990s.
President Berdymuhamedov has issued instructions that the payments, when received from Azerbaijan, should be spent on educational reforms and purchase of computers and multimedia devices for schools and universities across the country.
