Ashgabat, 30 January 2008 (nCa) --- Turkmenistan is preparing to send a humanitarian aid caravan to Afghanistan in a bid to alleviate some of the suffering caused by an exceptionally harsh winter.

The decision came Tuesday during a telephone conversation between President Berdymuhamedov of Turkmenistan and President Hamid Karzai of Afghanistan.

Berdymuhamedov expressed his sympathy and support for the people of Afghanistan and said that the people of Turkmenistan would soon send caravan of gifts containing foodstuff, children’s clothing and diesel oil.

Karzai said that the Afghan people value and appreciate the kindness of the government and people of Turkmenistan.
