Ashgabat, 4 October 2007 (nCa) --- Public transport service in Ashgabat is going to add 300 new urban commuter buses to its fleet, 56 of them within the next few days.

Iran Khodro, the 20th largest auto manufacturer in the world that produces more than one million vehicles every year, is supplying the buses to Turkmenistan under the contract that was signed during the visit of President Berdymuhamedov to Iran.

With the addition of 56 buses, the total number of buses plying on urban and suburban routes in Ashgabat would reach 266. By the time Iran Khodro completes the delivery of the ordered lot, there would be more than 500 buses on the streets of Ashgabat.

The interval between buses on each route will come down to 7-8 minutes.

At present there are 27 urban and 11 suburban public transport routes in Ashgabat. The situation would improve greatly when all the 300 Citi Bus-0457 join the fleet.

At least ten new routes would be opened for the convenience of passengers.

One new route will start from the central auto depot in micro region 11 and terminate at the junction of Archabil highway and Neutrality avenue.

Another new route would also start at the central auto depot and terminate at the cardio centre at Archabil highway after running through major streets in downtown Ashgabat.

Arzuw settlement at in the northern part of Ashgabat will get a new route, connecting it with the micro region 30.

Another route from Arzuw settlement would run through the entire eastern part of Ashgabat and terminate at the airport complex.

Teke bazaar, where a modern but terminal has recently been built, would connect through new routes to Mir-4 region and Daikhan bazaar.

A new suburban route will start from Anew town and terminate at the junction of Archabil highway and Neutrality avenue.

Route 18 will loop Mir-4 region to airport complex. This route will be useful for the passengers who commute between the wholesale market in the southern part of Ashgabat and the industrial area in the north.

Route 24 and Route 27 will connect several commercial, industrial and residential regions between the Ashgabat textile complex and Neftmash.
